What’s included in my monthly TechDesk plan?
At a high level:
- Day‑to‑day IT support (helpdesk, onboarding/offboarding, basic computer help)
- Device monitoring and updates
- Email and file backup for covered users

- Dark web monitoring for covered email addresses
- A set number of included IT support hours (30 minutes for Solo, 120 minutes for Team)
How do the included IT support hours work?
Each plan comes with a pool of remote IT time:
- Solo: up to 30 minutes/month of remote IT support
- Team: up to 120 minutes/month of remote IT support across your team
We use that time for helpdesk tickets (passwords, errors, “this isn’t working,” etc.). If you go over your included time in a month, extra IT support is billed in 60‑minute increments at $150/hour.
What happens if we go over our included IT support?
If you use more than your included IT time in a given month:
- Extra IT support is billed in 60‑minute increments at $150/hour
- You’ll see that clearly itemized on your invoice
If you’re consistently going over, we’ll help you either adjust your plan or move you into a Custom agreement with more included time baked in.
How does TechDesk work with the Cyber Defense Suite?
TechDesk and the Shadowbear Cyber Defense Suite are designed to work together:
- TechDesk keeps your users, devices, and everyday tools running smoothly.
- Cyber Defense Suite focuses on security: 24/7 threat monitoring, training, vulnerability management, backup, and incident response.
Many clients start with TechDesk and add the Cyber Defense Suite when they want a full security program on top of solid IT.
Do we have to switch everything to Shadowbear’s tools?
No. We standardize on a set of tools (for backup, monitoring, and password management) because that’s how we support you well. But:
- We can usually integrate with your current Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace tenant
- We’ll review any existing backup or security tools during onboarding and agree what stays, what goes, and how to transition
Is there a contract or can we do month‑to‑month?
TechDesk is typically offered on a 12‑month agreement, billed monthly, so we can justify the upfront work and tool deployment. For some very small or simple environments, we can discuss more flexible terms after an initial period.
Do you come onsite, or is everything remote?
TechDesk is fully remote. We use secure remote tools to access your computer (with your permission), manage your email and backups, and fix issues. That’s how we keep it affordable for small businesses.
If you’re in the Northern Virginia/DC metro area there are options for in-person support with the Custom plan.
I already have a “tech guy” I call sometimes. Can I still use TechDesk?
Yes. Most “tech guys” are break‑fix: you call when something is already broken. TechDesk is proactive and ongoing. Many small businesses keep a local person for rare hardware issues and use us for everything else (monitoring, security, backups, and daily support).
